P.S. The calm before the storm...Even if Emmie did have to get 3 shots on Wednesday, she made me smile when she was waiting on the table to get her shots and she found her toes. She started sucking on them and I quickly grabbed my camera and got this oh-so-cute shot! (I started this post on Wed., but didn't get around to it.)

Happy 1/2 Year Birthday, Emmie!
Emmie,

How exciting! Just 6 months ago your dad and I were going to the hospital today so I could give birth to you and we could find out if you were a girl or a boy! Well, God totally knew what we needed and he gave us a very sweet and contented baby girl! These past 6 months have been AMAZING!
Here are some of your accomplishments from this past month:
-Grown. 15.5 lbs. and 25 inches
-you are really good at making the raspberry sound with your lips
-your daddy loves to give you a mow hawk
-you are an accomplished roller - from belly to back and back to belly
-you sat in the shopping cart with your cart cover while Mommy shopped at Wal-mart
-you have great knee cleavage!! We love it!
-you love to stick your tongue out and roll it up towards your nose! too cute!
-Barber "J" (aka Daddy) gave you your first haircut! No more mullet! yeah!
-you are eating cereal now and love it! You can swallow it really well and are a clean eater!
-Mommy calls you Angel alot. I hope you still know your name is Emily.
-We went to Chattanooga for the 4th of July to see your great-grandparents.
-you think Daddy's family dog, Pete, is really funny. He makes you giggle.
-we started you on a 4 hour schedule this month. You eat at 8a, 12n, 4p, and 8p.
-you are still sleeping through the night from 8:30p-7:30a very consistently.
-we felt inside your mouth and your cheeks are just as think as they are fat. too cute!
-sometime you blow raspberries in daddy's face when he is singing too you. for some reason I think that is funny?!?!?
-Mommy was gone to the beach from Friday - Sunday and you hung out with Daddy the whole weekend. Ya'll had lots of fun - swimming, playing, eating, watching golf, sleeping, etc.
-I have started carrying you on my hips alot and you are holding on so far.
-2 people at Daddy's work think you are starting to look like Mommy...we will see!
-you went to Callaway Gardens for the first time. We hope to go back for many years to come!
-you rode on the back of Daddy's bike! too cute with your helmet and so low on the back of the bike you had to look at his butt or the ground the whole time. so sorry!
-we went to the Butterfly Center and the Circus while at Callaway!
-you have been practicing using a sippy cup in the bathtub and you have got it down!
-sometime you roll on your belly while in your swaddle for your nap and you sleep great (up to 2 hours)
-you have also learned your gag reflex. this week you didn't want your cereal and you threw up all the milk that mommy had just nursed you. so VERY sad!
-you had your first low grade fever - maybe from your shots the day before or teething. who knows. (no more teeth since the 2 you got at 4 months old.)
WOW, life is great! The past 6 months have been such a joy and blessing to have you in our home Emmie. We look forward to making more memories with you the next month!

Lake time with Debra and the Oliver's
I had a special treat this week! Debra, who lives in CO, came to meet Emily for the first time. We have been friends since '93 when she was my Keywanette big sister. Praise God for him allowing our paths to cross. I pray that Emmie has godly girlfriends like this one day. We just hung out Tuesday night and then Wed. morning we went to the lake.
Thanks Debra for making the effort and drive from Slidell to see us! I love you and miss you often!
We also had some special time with the Oliver's who also went with us. We had such a great time together! (Greg, Stacey, Katie (14), Matthew (10), and Claire (7)

Our time at Callaway Gardens!
Jeremy got the opportunity to go to Callaway with his work for a few days and they also encouraged them to bring their families. SO, since my parents took us there for 13 summers when we were growing up, I totally said "YES!" (My first time was when my parents took me there when I was 6 weeks old.)
We had an awesome time and I was a really "Happy Girl!" We went to the Butterfly Center, rode bikes, and also went to the circus. Jeremy also got to play golf on Saturday too.
Here is Emily laughing at a butterfly on the leaf. She LOVED the butterfly center and was mesmerized by all the butterfly movement.

Emily's helmet was way to big (for a 5 or 6 yr old), so we had to cinch it down to fit. We felt bad for her because her face was right in Jeremy's butt, but I think she loved the bike ride. Jeremy showed her what FAST feels like and she was also interested in the ground moving so fast.

3 New First's for Emmie!

I was at the beach for a Bachelorette party this weekend. Jeremy was an awesome Daddy and Husband letting me go and he had a great time with Emmie!

3. Her FIRST cereal! She did great! She ate it well and swallowed it well. She is a pro already! On a sentimental side, she got to use my Beatrix Potter cereal bowl from when I was a child and also her first silver spoon with an engraved "L" on it.

Times are Changin' at the Long's...
No more leaving Emmie on the bed, couch, or recliner...
she is now rolling over from her back to her belly! She is just a rolling pro - both ways!

She also rode in the Wal-mart cart for the first time today.
We also had a great 4th of July in Chattanooga. We went up to see Jeremy's grandparents. His grandfather had just had surgery to remove some lung cancer. He is recovering well and has now been moved to the rehab facilitiy.

At 5 months, Emmie is busy...
ROLLING OVER from tummy to back! I think she is a late bloomer on this, but that has been fine with me. She is a pro now and does it anytime we lay her on her tummy - she is quickly on her back!
She also LOVES to make the raspberry sound with her lips. Here she is in full action! so cute!
She also loves to roll her tongue up over her top lip. This isn't the best pix, but I will con't to try to take a better one.
