Little Fat Monkey

From During Emmie's 3rd Month

Today, Emmie and I went with my Paternal Grandmother Dot to pick out some pretty flowers. When we got Emily in the stroller, this is the nickname that Grandmother Dot had for her today "Little Fat Monkey". I thought it was so cute. My grandmother has always loved flowers and since she is at St. Martins and she doesn't have a yard, she still loves to plant flowers on her porch. We had a nice "outing" and got some really pretty begonias and other annual flowers.

We also went to the lake this past weekend. A VERY relaxing time that included a soft breeze, temperatures in the low 80s, yummy food, knitting, reading, yard clean up, exercising, naps, and wine under the umbrella at sundown. Emmie also started sleeping from 10p-7a for the past 5 nights! YEAH for now! I am sure this can change at any moment, but we are LOVIN it for now. Here is a sweet pix of something she loves to do: suck on just one finger on her left hand - her pointer finger.

What did we do with all this extra love and joy in our lives before you? It is amazing to have you around our home. If I even think about this for a second, the thought will bring tears to my eyes.
You are now 23 3/4 inches and 12.5 lbs. and growing so well. We had to retire more and more clothes that don't fit you anymore, but the 3 mo. size outfits fit you perfectly right now. You are such a good eater every 3.5 hours. You enjoy your 45 min. of awake time after you eat. You are so content to play on your play mat by yourself and that is such a great lesson to be learned. You LOVE your bath time now - you kick water everywhere and it is so much fun. We want to encourage you to kick a little since it won't be long until it is time to swim at the lake!! :)

This month you found:
-your voice.
-your sweet high squeal.
-your hands (I can find them often in your mouth).
-out your tongue is a chewing toy too.
-how to play with your toys using your feet.
-how to bust out of your swaddle blanket.
-out that when I burp you I LOVE to kiss your right temple.
-out that going with Mommy to Curves to workout is fun! Everyone smiles at you there.
-out that you totally have Daddy wrapped around your little finger. He already bought you 2 dresses, an outfit, and sandals from Children's Place.
-out what it feels like to be scared. I accidental made you jump in your bed one day and it made you start screaming. so sad.
-a way to tell me that you are finished nursing - you start looking into my eyes and "talking" to me. It is my favorite time with you right now. amazingly sweet!
-you smile alot now. not just at us, but also at the fan, your toys, etc.
-your strong neck muscles and you can hold your head up really well now.
-my favorite nicknames for you right now are Punky Brewster (b/c of your crazy hair) and also Munchkin
-out how to have more control over your arms and legs and they move with more purpose now.
-it is fun to sit up and you like for us to hold you this way sometimes.
-out that more people think you look like your Daddy.
-out how to sleep a few nights from 10-7a. YEAH! We will be working more on this next month.

Emily, your smile is contagious and we can't help but to smile back at you ALWAYS. Mommy and Daddy love it when you give us the WHOLE BODY smiles when you see us pop our heads over the side of your crib. We also like to talk your "coo" language. Sometimes I catch myself doing it while cooking with you or just passing through the room you are in and don't even realize it.

We definitely didn't know the joy the Lord was going to let us experience once you got here. We are so very blessed.

So this morning, I came in to get Emmie and she was all the way at the end of her bed. She just scoots and moves her legs like a rodeo and gets all the way to the end.

Also, last night my Uncle Rick and Aunt Roxanne babysat Emmie. Jeremy and I went to dinner with some of his clients in Homewood, so their house was very convenient. When we drove up you could see a huge white "E" on the door. As you got closer, there were little "E"s on each piece of paper. Can you tell Uncle Rick was so excited to have her? Aunt Roxanne said "I have been looking forward to this ALL day and I am so excited." More photos here.

Answering Machine Message:
I don't know why I haven't thought of this before, but Jeremy recorded a new answering machine message after Emily was born. If you have not called our house, you have not heard it, so I thought I would post it.

"Hey, you have reach Michelle and Jeremy's. We can't come to the phone right now because a toxic waste explosion just went off in Emily's diaper. We are currently waiting for the Hazmat to detox the area. Once they give us the all clear to re-enter the premises we will give you a call back. Thanks so much and have a great day."

Emmie's First Easter

We had a great Easter weekend. We went up to my parents in Memphis. We got to go walking with G'mom's new jog stroller, went shopping at Children's Place during a huge sale, and also ate lots of good food. It is a very nice and relaxing weekend. Oh, Jeremy enjoyed some time on the couch watching the Master's. On Sunday, Emmie got to wear Molly's first Easter dress. It was very special.

Last week:
We went to the Breastfeeding Support Group on Thursday for an Easter party. Emmie weighs 11 lb. 4 oz (up 4 oz since dr. apt. 2 1/2 weeks ago). She also nursed while I was there and took in 5 oz of milk (which is awesome!). The consultant said she should double her birth weigh by 6 mo. So 15 lbs. and 5 oz here we come!

Emily's First Boat Ride

Our friends, Matt and Heather, came to the lake with us on Saturday. The boys played the Lay Lake Batson Golf Course - invented by Jeremy. The girls sat on the porch, took a walk, and enjoyed some time on the dock. It was such a beautiful spring day.

Then we all took a party boat ride. This was Emmie's first boat ride. She did great! We zipped her up into her life jacket, it pushed her cheeks up as far as they could go, and we started off. Within a few minutes, she was out. I guess the breeze just felt too good.

Emily's Two Month Professional Pictures

So our photographer, Michelle King from church, wanted to take pix of Emmie again, so she twisted my arm (ha-ha) and we went over there on Wednesday. She did an amazing job! They were just as I had envisisioned. Beautiful!
