Happy 2nd Birthday, Molly!

Molly,

From Molly's 2nd Birthday

March 30, 2007 - what a special day! I remember 2 years ago when Grampa called me to tell me that your mommy had had you. Then she called me later to tell me your beautiful name - Molly Anne. We can't imagine you being anything else.

You are such a sweet child that brings so much joy to not only your parents, but your grandparents, aunts, uncle, and your friends. You have such a sweet disposition. You are smiling ALL the time. If you have a rough moment it is rare. You make us laugh often by using words like "cute" and "delicious" in sentences.

You love to read and sing songs. I hope that Emmie loves those things just as much as you do when she gets older. You are going to be such a sweet big sister to your little sister. I can't wait for her to get here and see you kiss, love, and interact with her. She is going to think you are the best.

Happy 2nd Birthday, my "niecie"! We are so VERY thankful to the Lord for your presence in our lives.

I love you!
Aunt 'Chelle

This year we couldn't be at Molly's Birthday Party in Baltimore. Jen put on an awesome Blues Clues party for her. Check out the blog here.

The Past Few Days

My friend, Megan Watson from Slidell, sent me this amazing pix of Emmie that she took at the Slidell shower and I just love it. Jeremy said last night that that is probably the best pix we have of her. It is just priceless. It looks like a Mona Lisa pix - is she smiling or not?!?!?

From Emmie's Slidell Shower

This past weekend Jeremy helped to host a 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament for the Gateway Kids that he serves on the board for. It was a big hit with basketball skills games, the tournament games, a kids vs. board basketball game, and then the ice cream truck came for the finale. See more pix here.

Also, Emily has been enjoying her tongue lately. Here are a few pix of her in action.

Happy Two Months Birthday, Emmie!

Emmie,

From Monthly Growing Photos

Another month and even more blessings that we can't even begin to count! You are definitely spoiling us as first time parents. WOW you are a really good baby! You are still VERY predicable when it comes to your schedule, naps, and feeding times. If you are crying we think about when you were fed last, check your diaper (you are not a fan of a wet or a dirty diaper), and then if those are not it you are usually just sleepy.

Some exciting events this past month:
-You were dedicated at our church, Mountain Brook Community Church, on March 1. It was a really special day for your dad and I to dedicate you to the Lord, since He was so gracious to entrust you to us.
-You met Aunt Jen, Uncle Chad, cousin Molly, Kris, Michelle, Amy, Carla, Sara, and Kristin.
-We were so blessed to have 3 shower for you this month in Birmingham, Cullman, and Slidell (WOW what girly and totally pink clothes you got!).
-You have started going walk 1 1/2 miles with Mommy almost every day in the jog stroller around the neighborhood.
-You went to the lake for the first time. It was just a quick Sunday afternoon trip and we did document it with a photo of you on the dock.
-You were serenaded by daddy. He played the guitar and piano for you and put you right to sleep.
-Mommy was the one that finally gave you a bottle on the way down to Louisiana. Daddy had done this many time, but I had not.

New milestones for you as you grow:
-First of all, your little face is changing. More and more people are saying you are looking like your daddy.
-You nurse really well, which is nice for me, since I was the one who had to try to convince you to stay awake by stroking your cheek, rotating your arm, rubbing your back, or squeezing your butt in towards me.
-Along this same note, you have gotten a little distracted sometimes when you eat by staring at a nice shadow on the wall, needing to burp, or trying to make a diaper (if you know what I mean).
-You have a really good 30 minute awake time after you nurse, but then it is time for a 1 1/2 - 2 hrs. nap.
-I had to cut your fingernails. They were getting long and scratching me when you nursed. I didn't make you bleed, that was a good thing.
-I finally got smart and you only wear sack gowns to bed now. I am so over the snap pjs and the zipper pjs also (since you still have to get your feet in those too).
-SMILING! This is the best! You started smiling when you were 6 1/2 weeks old. Now at 8 weeks old it brings joy to mine and daddy's hearts when you give us a big ole grin. It is so cute - you will smile, make eye contact with us, then get bashful, and turn your head and eyes away from us. You are also really cute when you have been crying (yes, unfortunately, we let you cry sometimes when you don't want to go to bed) and we go in to check on you and you stop and give us the biggest smile ever.
-You don't go crossed eyes anymore. Your eyes are getting stronger.
-You have graduated from the Newborn size diapers and you are now wearing #1s.
-You are really good at getting out of your swaddle. We had been only wrapping your arms, but now we have to tuck them in really well, so you don't break loose.
-You went to the dr. today for you 2 month well baby checkup. You weighed 11 lbs (60%ile) and you were 22 1/4 inches (also 60%ile).
-You can sleep longer now. Just 3 nights ago, you went 8 hours straight for the first time. You usually sleep about 6-7 hours typically from 10:30p to about 4:30a or 5:30a.

Emily, your dad and I were just saying last night that we are so happy that you are in our home for us to care for. This past week, in the evenings I have been rocking you to help you nap during that time and it is such a good feeling to know you so well as your Mommy to get you to sleep in just the way you like to be snuggled. I love caring for you as your Mommy. It is the best! I also put my ear to your chest the other day and your heart beats so fast. God is amazing! Sometimes in the mornings your dad will bring you into sleep with me for a little while until your next feeding. MAN how sweet it is to snuggle with you. It just feels so good. I have caught myself saying "when she was younger". Crazy that you are already growing up!

I love you!
Mommy

Trip to the 'dell and a new record!!

First, and most importantly :), Emily slept 8 hours STRAIGHT on Saturday night. She went down at 10:30 and woke up at 6:30. It was awesome! She didn't do it again Sunday night, but that is okay. It is just nice to know she can. Along this same note, I fed Emily a bottle for the first time on the way down to Slidell. I had not done this yet. She did great taking her bottle and also traveling down there and back. We are very spoiled with her continual great behavior.

This past weekend we went to Slidell. It was a wonderful trip. My highschool friends, Michelle and Kris, gave Emmie and I a baby shower (now that she is here). Since we didn't find out what we were having it was so nice to get some pink and girly clothes.
From 3-21-09 Emmie's Slidell Shower

Friday night, we just hung out and ate pizza. YUMMY! Then on Saturday, the shower was at 11am. Then we just visited and hung out that afternoon and then around 4pm the husbands and kids came over. There were 11 adults and 11 kids there (all under the age of 4). It was CRAZY FUN! Then on Sunday, we just slept in, ate shrimp po-boys, and then headed back to Birmingham around 2p.

It was a wonderful weekend to be with 6 of my close highschool friends. We are SO blessed to still keep in touch and be such good friends. Click here to see more pix.

TWO nieces "Coming Soon"!!!!!!

We are proud to announce that Jeremy and I have 2 nieces "Coming This Fall".

Diana and Jason told us Christmas Eve that they were pregnant. Then they just found out yesterday that they are pregnant with another little girl, Mallory. They are due August 9, 2009.
From Emmie Week 7 and 8

When my sister was here at the end of February, she also told us that her and Chad were expecting another little girl also (her name will be revealed at her birth)! They are due September 6th, 2009.

Here they are with Emmie. It won't be long until they are holding their little girl.

From 3-14-09 Cullman Baby Shower

Yesterday, we went to Jeremy's old stompin' grounds, Cullman, for a Sip and See that Sashari gave for Emily, Jeremy and I. It was really nice and great to see some of our friends that still live in Cullman. Most of all, we were proud for them to meet Emily. Click here to see more pix.

***WARNING: TMI***P.S. On Friday, I changed Emmie's diaper before her 1p feeding and poop was dripping (yes, dripping) out the back when I was lifting her legs. crazy!

Also, here are some recent Facebook Status Updates by Jeremy:

2/14/09 Jeremy is tired from making the Tour de Emily: 3 grandparents, 3 aunts, 2 uncles, 1 cousin, & 1 brother (with family) all in 22 hours. Emmie, you are loved!

3/1/09 Jeremy is proud of all his family that made it to church for Emmie's dedication in spite of the snow we didn't get to play in.

3/3/09 Jeremy is enjoying some sweet time with Emmie while Mom is out with the ladies!

the Hazmat has visited...

Emmie woke up about 8a and I started nursing her on one side while I was laying in the bed on my side. Then I switched her to the other side. She pooped, so I put a burp cloth under her. Well, I had my hand on her back and felt the poop up her back. Then I looked at the burp cloth and it was covered. She would nurse (and I knew this was going to be an ordeal), so I put an open diaper under the burp cloth so it wouldn't get on the bed. Finally, when she was done I changed her. If it had not been the cute onesie that says "I Love Daddy" I probably would have cut it off of her. It was so gross.

So, now she has on the cute onesie that her Aunt Jen made for her.

Here Emmie is also wearing a barrette that Aunt Jen made for her too.

We were blessed on Sunday to have a shower in Birmingham after Emily is here. It was so nice and we got some really pretty things. Check out more pix here.

Tummy Time Surfboard

From Emmie Weeks 5 and 6

If you have thought that Emmie is getting bigger, well she is. I weighted her on Monday and she is 10.5 lbs. I also I measured her on her Tummy Time Surfboard that has inches on it and she was 22 inches. She is also in #1 diapers...so long to newborns!

We also love kissing her multiple times a day, but we hope each time she doesn't meet her kiss quota. Thank goodness the warning signal has not gone off yet. ha-ha!

P.S. Emmie didn't make it through the day in the bear onesie that Aunt Jen made, so we changed into the fish one!

Emmie Meeting Aunt Jen, Uncle Chad, and Molly

From 3-1-09 Meeting Aunt Jen
Jen, Chad, and Molly came in last Thursday from Baltimore to meet Emmie for the first time. That night we just hung out and played Wii.
From 3-1-09 Meeting Aunt Jen

Then on Friday, my parents came in from Memphis. We just ate, napped, and ate some more.

Saturday, we tried our hardest to make it a "Jammie Day" and great-grandmother Dot came out to the house for a visit. We are a totally lazy family when we get together.
From 3-1-09 Meeting Aunt Jen

Sunday, we had Emily's Baby Dedication at our church and it snowed in Birmingham. It was such a blessing to dedicate Emily to the Lord since He has entrusted her to us. We see it as a privilage that the Lord is allowing us to raise her to love Him with all her heart here on earth. Jeremy also was lead by the Lord to pick out this verse for her. We will con't to pray this verse for her throughout her life. Emily we pray "For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way..." Col. 1:9-10

Jeremy and I had both sides of our families in town. Each of Emily's living great-grandparents were present and it was very special.

Monday was just time to hang out again. They left that evening and it was so wonderful to all be together.
