27 weeks - the beginning of the Third Trimester!

From 1-24-09 Due Date
After a week of slow movement (there must have been lots of growing last week), this weekend there have been lots of summer-salts and flips by Baby Long. It is such a good feeling to feel a heal or elbow move across my hand. On Saturday night, Jeremy and I were laying in bed feeling Baby Long move all over the place and kick. There was one HUGE kick that was so big it scared me. Like the baby said "Boo" and I jumped - crazy! I am thankful that I am still only getting up 1 time per night to pee. I know this is a true blessing at 27 weeks.

Babycenter says "This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle."

From 10-25-08 Halloween Party

Saturday night, we went to our annual Halloween party. This year it was "Family Feud Halloween". Our "family" was Everybody Loves Raymond.

Michelle - Marie, the mom; Jeremy - Frank, the dad; Jason - Ray; Diana - Kendra, Hugh Hefner's Girl Next Door. It was alot of fun. See more photos here.

The Baby Bed, Glider, and Dresser

It has been a fun week for getting Little One's room ready. On Saturday, we picked up our Best Chair glider and Munire baby bed.
From 1-24-09 Due Date

Jeremy got the glider put together on Saturday and the bed put together on Monday night.

My parents also got my childhood dresser refinished in Memphis for Baby Long's changing table/dresser.

This is a painting that I am going to get framed for the baby's room by my cousins' (Ann and Lee) mom, Mrs. M. Stevens. It is perfect with the terquoise and green bedding that Aunt Jan is working on for us.

26 weeks

From 1-24-09 Due Date

It has been a good week. The baby is moving more and more, which is such a comforting feeling. Also, today (Monday) I had the first man touch my stomach. I guess I am showing now. ha-ha! Here is also a gift that I gave Jeremy a while back for his desk...

From 1-24-09 Due Date

Babycenter.com said "The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take two to three days."

Dr. Appointment and the Infamous Sugar Test

I went today for my 25 week appointment with Dr. Ross. It started out with me drinking the sugar drink to find out if I have gestational diabetes. I had heard horror stories about this "sugar liquid", but maybe things have changed b/c it just tasted like the kool-aid that Jeremy makes here at the house - since he likes to add "just a little more" sugar than the packet calls for. It was fruit punch and I only had to drink the size of a small styrofoam cup - not bad at all.

Then they took me back to see the Dr. Ross. Little One is measuring 26 weeks and has a 147 heartbeat. Everything is looking good. Jeremy didn't go with me since the appointment was going to take so long, so when they found the heartbeat I called him and let him listen to it. What a sweet heartbeat - and truly amazing too. Then after an hour they pricked my finger and tested it on a diabetes glucose meter and it was 116 - normal the nurse said. YEAH! No 3 hr. failure test during this pregnancy! They also took a vile of blood to test my iron. I will find out by Monday if my iron is low.

25 Weeks

From 1-24-09 Due Date
I have a few stories from last Monday night:
1. Jeremy and I were watching t.v. and I got him to pause the TiVo and we both got to see a big roll of an arm or a leg on the right side of my belly. It was so cool! WOW!
2. Then Jeremy and I were talking and he mentioned "What did Eve think the first time she was pregnant with Cain? I mean, did God talk to her and tell her what was going to happen or did her stomach just start getting bigger and something started moving inside? Then 9 months later, she birthed something and it was a human." Since first, Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree, then the curse (where women received pain during childbirth) was put on all mankind, and then she had Cain maybe God did tell her something ahead of time - I sure hope so. CRAZY thought! Good point, Jeremy. This was definitly something I had never thought of before.

Babycenter.com says: "Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture."

From 10-11-08 ATL trip
Last week, Jeremy was in Hilton Head from Tuesday - Friday for a sales trip that he earned for reaching his goal. Then on Thursday, I headed over to Atlanta to spend the night with Michelle Massett Barrett. It was so good to see her, since she is due any day with her 2nd little one. Then on Friday, I picked up Jeremy and we went to Roswell to spend the weekend with Lee, Michelle, Chris, Madison, and Ben. It was so good to play together and just do the "normal". We went shopping in Downtown Roswell (I got some Cmas shopping taken care of - yeah!), to the Roswell Holloween Parade, slept in, ate great food, and laughed alot. See more photos here.

24 weeks

From 1-24-09 Due Date

I have been reminded this weekend of the amazing husband that the Lord has given me. Through these comments my heart has been warmed:

1. We had arrived home from church and we were cooking lunch in the kitchen and Jeremy said "I am going to be sad when you are not pregnant anymore."

2. In Sunday School, we were in small groups and answered some get to know you questions. One of the questions was - How many kids do you think you will have in 5 yrs. Jeremy and I were at home Sunday evening and talking on the couch. He asked me "When do you think you will be ready to get pregnant again?" This makes my heart happy that he is loving this time and looks forward to our family still growing.

Pregnancy moments:

1. Jeremy told me Friday night as we were going to bed that when we were sleeping Thurs. night I had snuggled up to him during the night and he felt the baby kick his back. This is so amazing and special. Well, the baby started kicking as we were getting into bed Friday night, so I snuggled up to him again and he felt it 5-6 more times. So cool!

2. I think I have had my first craving - this week I have wanted fresh lemonade (Chick-fil-A is the best but Crystal Light will do also).

3. Tonight as we were watching tv, I asked Jeremy to pause it because the baby was kicking alot and we like to watch my stomach move. Well, this time we saw something new - a roll. It was like a leg or an arm move across part of my stomach. It was so neat to see this together for the first time.

Babycenter.com says "Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon."

This past weekend we went to Cullman to see our God-children. It was so good to visit with them and Josh/Sashari. Friday night, we ate dinner together. Saturday, we slept in and then went to Walker's flag-football game. See more photos here.
