I keep meaning to put a link on here for our Peru photos. http://picasaweb.google.com/thejeremylongs/8108PeruMissionTrip
We were given an amazing opportunity to serve the Lucas', our church missionaries (photo above), in Pucallpa, Peru. We also got to love on the children there by putting on a basketball camp. Jeremy really got to bond with Juan Carlos and I got to know Kayla.
Here is an email the team received today from Minori Lucas, missionary:
"How are you all doing? School started today and so our summer has officially come to an end. But not the heat though!! We haven't had a good rain at all and it's been really hot. Even the locals are complaining, so you know it's hot. Hopefully we will get a good rain soon. How are you? Are you all back into the swing of life in the States? We miss playing smatchet with you guys. We haven't played since you left. Could you let Michelle Long know that Monica had her baby today. The baby is premature, but is doing fine. They will have to stay in the
hospital for a while.
We have a prayer request to share with you. Ryan was asking about any needs we might have, and we couldn't think of anything when he was here. Well, after you guys left and I started getting ready for school, I found out that our copier at the school has completely bit the dust. Of all the equipment well, maybe excluding ceiling fans) that the school has, the copier is the most used and necessary for the function of the everyday school operations. Since we only have 11 students this year, but with still all of the costs of running the school, (such as electricity, workers, etc.) the school budget is very tight. If it is possible, could you let this prayer request be known? Kyle is looking into prices of copiers, most likely we need to get one from Lima.
Thank you.
Once again, thank you so much for being such a blessing to us. You all mean a lot to us.
A big hug,
Minori for John, Amy and Kenji too."
